Cameroon signs its second Country Programme Framework

On 17 September 2009, the Country Programme Framework (CPF) document of Cameroon was signed by H.E. Ms. Madeleine Tchuinte, the Minister of Scientific Research and Innovation, the Republic of Cameroon and Ms Anna Maria Cetto, Deputy Director General, Head of the Technical Cooperation Department of the IAEA.

The signed CPF is the second one for Cameroon which will cover the period 2009-2013. The CPF constitutes the frame of reference for the short-term and medium-term technical cooperation between the Republic of Cameroon and the International Atomic Energy Agency. The document identifies the national priorities for socio-economic development where nuclear science and technology can make a significant contribution.

The CPF has been developed on following intensive consultations between the Agency and national competent authorities on the basis of a thorough analysis of the country’s needs as regards to nuclear science and technology applications for the achievement of the objectives of the national development, and in particular those of the national strategy of fight against poverty. The formulation of the present CPF took into consideration the lessons drawn from the implementation of the previous CPF (2003-2007) and the past and present technical cooperation activities.
