Eric Cole joined the IAEA in July 2008, after almost 16 yrs of tenure with the UN and World Bank, notably in Technical, Programming, portfolio management and Coordination capacities. He has a well rounded career in the core business practice areas of both organisations, specifically in water management and infrastructure related sectors. At the UN in Africa and South East Asia he managed urban development, emergencies and reconstruction programmes and provided technical leadership on several loan and privatization programmes.

He is a professional civil and environmental engineer and holds a Masters degree with special interest in the water sector. He has special applied research interests in Ground water development and Environmental Health Services. He has professional certifications in programme management, water utility regulation and membership with water and environment related professional bodies in Canada, USA and the UK.

Before joining the IAEA in July 2008, for past six years Mr Cole was responsible for the management of the UNDP Eco-partnership South – South programmes, an inter-regional programme between Asia and Africa across twelve countries. He is an alumnus of the L’Hôpital Albert Schweitzer and the Grant Foundation in Florida and Pittsburgh, where he used to serve as Director of water and development providing water and environment health services for thousands of people on the Island of Hispaniola.

Mr Cole is responsible for the overall management and implementation of TC projects in Morocco, Niger, South Africa and Tunisia. He is also responsible for three AFRA projects on Quality Management in Nuclear Applications, nuclear maintenance and instrumentation and Plant Breeding and Genetics.
