IAEA fellowship programme for young professional women

Young professional fellow

The objective of this programme is to increase the proportion of females from Member States employed by the Agency and in Member State nuclear institutions.

Funds for this programme will be used to support young women pursuing an advanced degree, or having recently graduated, gain practical international work experience in nuclear technology and applications or in technical cooperation. Specifically, the programme works to provide young women with fellowships of six months in duration at the Agency assisting in the normal activities of an appropriate technical division.

Member States are invited to provide funding to this programme and are asked to address their offers of support through the Deputy Director General of Technical Cooperation, Ms. Ana Marķa Cetto. These funds will be allocated through the TC programme under the corresponding Human Resource Development and Nuclear Technology Support projects.

To participate in the IAEA Fellowship Programme for Young Professional Women, TC National Liaison Officers are asked to nominate candidates in the respective field and assist in the completion of the IAEA fellowship application form. The established fellowship placement process in TC will then be followed. The respective Agency departments will develop a description of the training offered for the fellowship assignment. These descriptions will then be forwarded to the TC National Liaison Officers in the Member States.

Fellowship assignments at the Agency will be under the supervision of a qualified mentor, and at the end of the assignment, the fellow will be requested to provide a fellowship final report.
